***
Sometimes fate guides our spirit to another for a single day and the
profound impact of the encounter can last a life time.
Peter Lust was such a destined meeting for me.
His legacy of courage, compassion, and humanitarian
efforts will continue to touch the hearts of many
for generations to come.

**********

He was born January 15, 1911 in Nurnberg, Germany. His heritage home is still there. He made Canada his home since 1946. He was an accomplished writer, as well as humanitarian. He dedicated much of his life to exposing inhumanity - particularly to helpless animals. His book,
" The Last Seal Pup "
( Harvest House, 1967 )
won wide acclaim and was a first of its kind, exposing the cruel practices employed in the baby seal hunt in Canada. The book, in addition to winning him the Quebec Literary Prize, caused a change in how the seal hunt was carried out.

He had a razar-sharp wit, and unique sense of humour.

He died after a very long and courageous battle with alzheimers.
He is survived by his three children and six grandchildren.
